#2: Everything is Changing

Want the good news or the “omg” news first? Good news? You got it.

I’m going to be starting work again.

That’s all I’m going to say for now since I haven’t had my first day back yet.. I’m still a little nervous about how I’ll react being that I haven’t worked in two years. However, given that I have time to write.. keep an eye out for a post about my first week back at work on August 14th!

Waiting for the “omg” news, right?

For the month of August, I’m thinking about doing a complete blog overhaul. This is where I need your input!

I really want to add more menu tabs and separate my beauty, lifestyle, and personal posts (just to make it more appealing to find what you want to read). I also wanted to maybe try out writing opinion posts? I wrote for a few organizations during the primaries here in the US, but I’ve never integrated my social or political opinions into this blog. Any thoughts?

In terms of my blog, I also have a ton of posts scheduled (but very few drafted, as I’m writing this). But I wanted to know what you’d love to see more of. Since I’ll be working, I’ll have more wiggle room with trying out new products and writing more lifestyle posts (since I can afford to go places now). Along those lines kinda I’d also love to know what changes you’d personally like to see here (like pictures in every post, maybe? that type of thing).

I blog for me, but I also blog for you. I want to make a concerted effort to get to know you (my reader(s)) and what you look for in your reading material. This should be enjoyable for all parties involved, know what I mean?

Let me know your thoughts/feelings/questions/concerns/suggestions,etc. below!

Until next time,

♥Char.

Marriage Happenings #2

Hi everyone! If you’re new here and don’t necessarily know what this post is about, please check out my first post of this series here.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much to write this time around since we’ve just been so engrossed in moving that I haven’t been able to catch my breath. I’ll share with  you the one thing I managed to write down and then I’ll give you guys a little life update below. I hope you enjoy!

Me: *Viciously grabs his butt because reasons*

Him: THAT WENT INSIDE

Me: *cackles uncontrollably*

Him: I HOPE YOU PEE

Update: I did. No regrets.

LifeandBlogUpdateOkay, so now for the actual life update/chatty side of this post. Life just hasn’t been slowing down at all lately. We got the news that we were going to move last month, I got sick a little over a week ago, and also for the last week our house has been ripped apart because of all of the maintenance issues we’ve had here.

I literally haven’t been able to get anything done in terms of planning our move and getting started with the process, let alone getting any other work done. Every time I turn around, there’s another issue with this house that keeps us from using one room or more at a time. Coupled with the fact that as of the last week, we’ve had maintenance, management, painters, plumbers, and contractors in and out like crazy and I don’t see that ending any time soon. In all, we might have maybe a week of peace in this house before we leave. Maybe.

On top of the issues I’ve written about multiple times in multiple places, we’ve been desperately trying to get ahold of management here to have them fix the major issues in our townhouse before we move so it’s not pinned back on us like we wrecked the place. After months of little to no contact, no matter what we tried, we decided to email the owner of the company to let him know the condition of his property. What do you know? We got hoards of people in our house the next day fixing every last thing that they could find. One of those things happened to be the pipes behind the wall in our laundry room.

Now, the funny part about this is that about two weeks ago, we called to have work done because the dryer that we had been renting from management caught on fire mid-cycle and obviously that was concerning. All I wanted was to have the units removed and the vent flushed before I bought a brand new pair and had them delivered. Did that get done? No. The units got removed almost a week later and the vent was never cleaned, so we had no other choice but to move our new units in anyway.

When they finally came on Thursday to take care of the mess that is our house, they noticed that there was yet another leak behind the laundry room wall, even though “all of the pipes were replaced last summer.” Apparently, they were not. So we had to have our wall ripped open once again, which took four days for them to come and patch up. During the patching process, they got drywall and paint all over my brand new dryer, which was clear across the room, and then left the mess for us to clean  up. I’m not happy. So I spent a couple hours last night soaking everything in the room to get the drywall dust off, and scraping the paint off of my new dryer with my nails so I didn’t damage it more. This is on top of being sick. Still.

I know I’ve said this before, but I seriously can’t wait to move. All this being said, I really hope you all understand why my blog has been so lacking and I haven’t been as timely with my updates as I would like. There’s just a lot going on right now that takes priority. Just know that I’m  making every attempt I can to not let my blog fall to the wayside. Please send some encouragement my way if you’re into that sort of thing! Lord knows I need it still, haha.

Always,

♥Char.

Life & Blog Update #1

I know this post is long overdue (a month to be exact), but things have been pretty hectic around here. If you want to know everything that’s been going on in my life and with my blog, keep reading! ♥

Blog News

So, I’m about halfway past due for my Project Pan Update #2, even after I promised an update #1.5 to tell you about my goals. Right before the goals post went up, I dislocated my ankle (on my anniversary), so that just didn’t happen as I had other things to worry about. And then as I should have been posting my second update, we found out that we’re moving again. Like I said.. hectic.

That being said, I think I’m going to try to combine #1.5, 2, &3 – so you’ll get a gigantic update on 4/15. I can’t promise this because I literally have no idea how busy we’ll be with transitioning, but I’ll try my best. I’m sure you want to read about my progress (and my final inventory value ($$$$$)) as much as I want to get my empties off of my dresser haha. If things are just too chaotic around the house, in all reality… I’ll have to end up pushing things to June, probably. That’s why I’m really hoping to get one up on or by 4/15 if at all possible. I literally have no idea what’s going on with anything.

However, for this month, I’m going to try my best to get everything back on track and resume some normalcy.. or at least at much as possible. Wish me luck!

Life Update

So, as you may have read, I’m moving. We just got the news a few days ago, and it was completely unexpected. For those of you who have been following me for a while, you’d know that the house we leased for the last 13 months has basically been falling apart around us. We’ve had 10  major leaks up to this point, and the last one has gone unfixed for two months. For the longest time, we didn’t have the resources to get out of here, so we were planning on just sucking it up for another lease term until we could get everything situated. Thankfully, one of our friends is moving across the country and was gracious enough to set us up with their house.

That being said, this whole “moving transition” is essentially starting now and won’t end until the second week of June. It’s going to be a long and super messy process. Not only do we have to figure out the leasing situation on this house and try to get everything fixed before we leave (because they’ll end up keeping our deposits and charging us damages for things we didn’t cause – because they’re assholes, to be frank), but the other house is a fixer-upper and we’ll be living with our friend until they fully transition across the country. When I say living, I really mean helping them move and then taking care of our business. So much mess.

If you want more detail, please keep reading. I just wanted to keep this short for the most part for those of you who just wanted to check in. ♥

So, our  master shower started leaking into my downstairs again on 01/28. On 01/30, we were told by maintenance that everything would be fixed and good to go (meaning they were finally going to rip out the shower and replace it completely) in two weeks. Here we are two months later and they’ve only been to the house once. ONCE in two months to get this thing fixed. I’m beyond livid. I’ve been literally stuffing myself up their asses to try to get this resolved, or to at least get some answers, to no avail.

On top of the shower thing, I can’t get any information on our lease extension either. I already was told that we can have one for one month (just to make moving a bit easier on us), but have yet to see any paperwork. In order for us to be out by June and not have to pay more massive amounts of rent, I need to have something to sign by the last day of this month. Which is in less than a week.

I’ve dealt with a lot of crappy landlords, but I’ve literally never been so disgusted by a management company in my entire life. Words can’t even explain whatever it is that I’ve been feeling for months now. I mean, this was supposed to be our first house as a married couple and it’s turned into a complete shit show. I’ve lived here for over a year and not once has it felt like home. It’s awful.

God, I can’t wait to move. Even if that means there’s so much more work in store for me.. I. Can’t. Wait.

That being said, thank you for reading if you’ve made it this far! I really appreciate it. Oh, and wish me luck! If you want to see the entire process, please feel free to follow me on SnapChat (@ForgedOpulence) – Lately I’ve been snapping a bunch of decluttering,  if that’s your schtick. You can find my other social media linked under my “Contact” tab♥

Always,
