Review: Epic Soap Co. Bacon Soap

Revamp from August 2016

Lately, I’ve been collaborating a lot with Etsy shops in the United States to try to further their businesses. I like knowing that I can take part in helping someone grow their small business, and the owners of the Epic Soap Co. on Etsy were kind enough to send me an awesome PR package to help give their shop a little more exposure. As usual, I hope you love reading these as much as I love writing them. Without further ado…

So, Epic Soap Co. made this easy on me, and I don’t have to type out the ingredient list because its clearly visible on the front of their packaging. I do think that the ingredient list is pretty good overall; I’m not a fan of Titanium Dioxide, but I understand why they used it (for coloring). I do have to say, though, that the use of coconut oil, avocado oil, and castor oil totally make up for it. Those particular oils are wonderful for your skin. Another little thing you may have noticed is that this soap is vegan friendly even though it’s bacon scented. I don’t necessarily think any vegans would use a bacon soap to begin with, but props for the effort.

On that same note, let me talk about the scent a little bit. This soap is supposed to be bacon scented, but I don’t really get that. It smells super smokey, but I wouldn’t say that this soap smells like meat at all. That being said, vegan or not, you should try this soap and smell it for yourself. I would recommend that you buy this as a gift for a special man in your life rather than yourself, though, unless you’re into really heavy masculine scents because the scent will linger on your skin. I do have to admit that I like using this soap underneath flower scented shower gel or body spray. I’ve found that using this soap that particular way makes me smell like a forest, and I really enjoy it.

This soap doesn’t really lather, but that’s to be expected for homemade soap bars. The soap itself feels really soft to the touch and that stays true through your whole experience using it; it feels good on the skin and it leaves your skin nice and soft after use. I really have nothing bad to say at all about this soap.

Overall, I think Epic Soap Co.’s Bacon Soap is absolutely wonderful, whether you’re looking into buying it for a man in your life or just using it for yourself. I particularly like the woodsy, smokey scent of this soap and would definitely consider purchasing it again, especially in the colder months. If you’re interested, you can find this particular soap on Epic Soap Co.’s Etsy for $6 per 4.5-5oz or $2 for a soap sampler! They also throw in a free gift with every shipment, and they ship internationally. Their shop and their products really are phenomenal, so give them a try!

At the time that I wrote the original review above, I hadn’t had a chance to finish all of the products I was given (as they do last a surprisingly long time). Now that I’ve had the chance to get the full effect of the product, I’d like to tell you about it full disclosure style.

Everything I said in the original review still stands, but I thought I would stick to the trend and add the following questions and answers: Would I purchase? No. Why? The scent just isn’t for me. This is a great soap, though. With that being said, would I recommend this product? Absolutely.. especially if you or someone you know/love is really into bacon scented products. One again, it doesn’t specifically smell like bacon, but the scent is very hearty and smokey, leading me to firmly believe that anyone who appreciates masculine scents will love this soap.
