Revamp from August 2016
Original review followed by update.
Lately, I’ve been collaborating a lot with Etsy shops in the United States to try to further their businesses. I like knowing that I can take part in helping someone grow their small business, so the owner of Junebug Soap Co. on Etsy was kind enough to send me one of their full sized body washes to test out in order to help give their shop a little more exposure. Hopefully by now, you love reading these reviews as much as I love writing them. Lets get into it!
First of all, I love this packaging. It’s simple and sleek, and its super practical. When you buy this product off of Junebug Soap Co.’s website, you have the option of a pump cap or a traditional dispensing cap. Go with the pump cap; it seriously makes your life so much easier when using this product. On the label, you might notice that the ingredients are listed, but I take crappy pictures, so let me tell you what’s in this.
The Activated Charcoal Organic Body Wash contains water, sunflower oil*, coconut oil*, potassium hydroxide (saponifying agent), citric acid, and activated charcoal. The asterisks means that that specific ingredient is certified organically grown by The Soil Association. This is honestly one of *the most* natural products I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying, so major bonus points from me.
When you use this body wash, one pump is enough to wash your entire body, which is amazing. The body wash is really watery, so I’d be careful when dispensing it to make sure you don’t waste any product. However, this lathers up really well but is super soft feeling at the same time. Not soft as in your skin feels soft afterwards..the body wash itself feels soft as you’re bathing. It’s the weirdest but most pleasant sensation ever.
I haven’t used this enough to be able to tell you the effect it will have on your skin, but Junebug Soap Co.’s website and Etsy shop have glowing reviews for this body wash. Unfortunately, I’m very sensitive to smells, so I couldn’t use this whole product up. I didn’t like the way the product smelled in the bottle, and the smell definitely intensifies and lingers on your skin. It’s very natural smelling, so if you can stand ultra-natural products and the way they smell, then this body wash is definitely up your alley.
Overall, this is a great product even though I personally couldn’t get past the way it smells. I’m going to try to get some essential oils to mix with it and see how that does, because I really do like the way it cleans my skin. I’m not one to go out of my way to make something work either, so that really says something.
You can buy Junebug Soap Co.’s Activcated Charcoal Organic Body Wash at their website for $9 a bottle. It’s a steal! Plus, right now they’re offering free shipping on orders of $40 or more, and they have plenty of products to choose from. They also ship to a ton of countries outside of the U.S., so if you’re an overseas reader, check it out!
At the time that I wrote the original review above, I hadn’t had a chance to really try to make the best of this product. Now that I’ve had the chance to get the full effect of the product, I’d like to tell you about it full disclosure style.
Everything I said in my original review still stands, but I wanted to stress something: I could not get through this product. I tried to use it for about a week and even passed it off to my husband because I really wanted to like this body wash, but I just can’t. In the original review, I said that this smells “natural.” I’d like to disclose now that that was a complete understatement. While I can admit that I’m super sensitive to smells, my husband isn’t.. he can stomach things that I gag at the thought of. After about a week and a half, we collectively decided to toss this body wash. I definitely couldn’t use it without getting that “uh oh” feeling in my stomach, but he wasn’t a fan of the smell and even when he would use it, I could smell it even being feet away from the bathroom.
I just can’t. To this day, I haven’t had any activated charcoal product turn my stomach quite like this. All that being said, I obviously wouldn’t repurchase. As for recommending it? If you’re absolutely sure you love products like this, I say go for it. However, in terms of actively recommending it to friends/family/followers? Unfortunately, that’s a no from me.
As always, please let me know if you decide to try Junebug Soap Co. and let me know what you think! Have you tried this body wash? How did you use it? How did it work for you? I want to know 🙂
Until next time,
